I picked up 2 4TB drives and put them in one of my win 7 machines as a spanned volume and am currently using a robocopy based batch file to copy everything from the shared folders on the WHS onto them. It's a home built Q8400 8 GB ram machine with a 320GB OS driveĪnd 12 other misc drives using drive extender. My plan is to convert the WHS into a WSE2012 system.

Password complexity rules can be tweaked on the server. Very happy with domain logon rather than always using machine accounts and synchronized passwords. This alone is worth the pain of migration. Storage Spaces is wonderful - far better than the old Drive Extender from teh original WHS. You will need to go into the new dashboard, click the devices tab, and then enable group policy. Group Policy (which implements some security rules as well as folder redirection) in NOT turned on by default. This seems to apply whether the My Documents folder is stored on C: or on your server.
